Cy-Fair ISD Trained Their Counseling and Guidance Leads to Hide Childrens’ Gender Identity

Updated: Feb 29

In the same school year that the TEA (Texas Education Agency) asked Texas public schools to send out questionnaires to parents and students for their input on counseling services rendered to them, Cy-Fair ISD's counseling and guidance leads attended the ASCA 2022 Conference (American School Counselor Association). The training taught counselors how to hide sex and gender preferences of children from their parents. I have the questionnaire, the training and the proof Cy-Fair ISD sent their lead counselors to the training.

THE QUESTIONNAIRE

I became concerned when CFISD sent emails to students and parents asking them to fill out a counseling "Needs Assessment Survey". Below is what the survey looks like in elementary school and older students had their own assessment link separate from the parents - which is also highly concerning that parents might not have any idea their child would be getting counseling without their knowledge at school. Below you will see that children are also going to receive monthly guidance lessons, small group counseling and one-on-one counseling (highlighted in yellow):

If parents wish to view their child’s counselor lessons, they must pre-arrange a time during school hours to view the lesson in their child’s school because of copyright. I thought we paid for access to view copyrighted material with our tax money. This can be an undue burden for working parents that don't have time to take off of work but want transparency on what their child is learning. I took time to dig deeper on what the counselors are being trained to do with the vulnerable minds of the youth.

THE ASCA TRAINING

I have used the website https://courageisahabit.org/ to supply opt-out forms for parents to use for others concerns in public education, so I went to see if there was an opt-out form for counseling services and lessons. What I found, I did not expect. I looked at the section titled, "Exposing School Counselors - Behind Closed Doors" and saw the ASCA 2022 Conference. Below is the summary of the training:

Below are screenshots and videos from the actual ASCA 2022 Conference that Cy-Fair ISD’s counseling leads attended (courtesy of courageisahbit.com). Is this appropriate for your child? Can you trust this? Children are to be labeled as a bully if they have a problem being in a bathroom or locker room with a different biological sex (highlighted in yellow below).

This is a misrepresentation of Title IX. Title IX is about the differences btwn the sexes, not their dilution, to ensure equal opportunity and privacy among the sexes – like not sharing a bathroom or locker room with someone of a different sex forcibly at school. The misrepresentation puts children at risk and it’s also unlawful to implement a sweeping expansion of federal law without congressional approval. Does it look like Cy-Fair ISD is attempting to misrepresent Title IX? Teachers have told me this is already happening and their concerns are ignored by adminstration.

This should be highly concerning. More concerning are the videos from the presenters at the ASCA 2022 Conference that train counselors to:

THE PROOF CY-FAIR ISD SENT THEIR COUNSELING LEADS TO THE ASCA TRAINING

Last, I did a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to find out if Cy-Fair ISD staff attended the ASCA training. The answer was yes, the leaders in counseling from the district did in fact attend the ASCA 2022 Conference.
